Navigating the Evolution: Modern Flexography vs. Traditional Practices

Steve Smith, Principal Consultant at Miraclon

Presentation Details
Speaker Bio

About This Presentation: The flexographic industry has changed drastically over the last two decades, with some companies embracing the changes and others sticking to tried-and-tested traditional practices. This presentation aims to explain the differences between “modern flexo” and “traditional flexo” for all participants involved, along with the drivers and economics behind the transition slowly moving through the global industry.

Join Steve as he delves into the current business environment, where economic constraints, tight deadlines, sustainability imperatives, and shortages of skilled personnel have placed significant strain on those adhering to traditional practices. Consequently, there is a growing need to shift from an “art” based process to an efficient manufacturing process.

About Steve: With over 40 years of experience in the printing industry, Steve has been involved at the leading edge of most of the technologies that have transformed the printing industry over that time, particularly from the color reprographics side. Over the last decade, he has been involved in the packaging sector with Miraclon’s Flexcel plate technologies.

Steve is engaged with the Advanced Print Applications division of Miraclon, headed by Dr. John Anderson, with a focus on defining and implementing modern flexo practices across the region.
